Caroline Makena is a self driven entrepreneur from Kenya, based on her entrepreneurship experience of using recycled materials such as banana fiber to make products, working with a social enterprise in Kenya gives her an edge to source for partnerships in terms of internships, employment and tenders for persons with disability in Kenya by the use of technology.
She is committed to community and environmental based projects and due to her love of making long lasting impact in the communities, volunteering to help others and speaking out for the less fortunate she pursued Public Relation studies. Currently she is working with a social enterprise in Kenya as an outreach & partnerships officer.
What is the purpose of your charity or social enterprise?
Our purpose is to improve the livelihoods of persons with disabilities by using technology to connect them to employment opportunities.
What needs are you trying to meet in the world?
10% of Kenya’s population are persons living with disabilities. Of this 10%, 70% are unemployed. Our aim is to dramatically reduce this rate by 2019, we feel it is a key component of eradicating poverty and promoting the county growth.
How do you want the coaching to help you?
Coaching will help in polishing my pitching and communication skills.
